Understanding the Basics of Computer Security
Now that you know the basics of computer security for users (sicurezza informatica per utenti) and the types of threats out there, let’s discuss some steps you can take to ensure your system remains secure: • Use strong passwords – make sure they are long enough (at least 8 characters), contain upper and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters if possible; change them regularly; never use the same password for multiple accounts; don't share them with anyone; store them in a secure place like a password manager app; use two-factor authentication whenever possible; etc.
• Install anti-virus/anti-malware protection – make sure it is always up-to-date so it can detect new threats quickly; set it up to scan regularly so any potential issues can be identified early on; etc.
• Keep software updated – make sure all applications installed on your system are up-to-date with all necessary patches so attackers cannot exploit known vulnerabilities in outdated versions; configure auto-updates when available; etc.
