Koi fish are an ornamental species of fish that descend from the carp. Chinese farmed carp traveled to Japan in the 1660s and noticed some color variations in some of the carp and they breed them. This led to the birth of Koi species. These beautiful fishes are found in a variety of colors such as red, black, golden, blue, orange and many others. They come in all the colors in the rainbow. The very first Koi fish was found in Japan.  These fishes were then bred as a means of decoration for royal families and royal kingdoms as a form of royal and regal artwork. They represented glory, royal power and status.
