Boots and blades: finding the right ice skates for all age groups
When it comes to ice skating two
things comes to the mind; figure skating and ice hockey. Both these activities
require skates that are comfortable and have the best design to uplift the
performance of the skater. However, both the type of ice skates are a bit different in their design and build as they
are made for different purposes.
Ice hockey skates
These skates have different blades
that are more narrow and short and without nay rear or front pick. Also, the
blade is slightly curved on both ends, as it maximizes the agility, speed, and
maneuverability of the skates.
Figure skates
These skates are equipped with
blades which is long with tail and toe pick. These two picks make the stopping,
pivoting, landing, jumping, etc. while skating easy and more fluid. However, it
takes a lot of practice to excel infigure
skates as it is easy to fall or trip in them.
